In November of 2002, voters in the Houston Independent School District passed an $808.6 million bond referendum for the continued construction of new schools and renovation of existing facilities. HISD has retained five firms to provide program management services for the implementation of the bond program. As CM/PA, Knudson is responsible for scope/budget definition and control, architect/engineer selection, management of the design process, selection/negotiation of construction contracts, and construction management.
With preliminary planning and organization completed during the spring of 2003, the first architect selections have been presented and approved by the school board. Design work began in the summer of 2003 with construction for all projects expected to be complete in 2006. HISD program scope included $175.1 million in new and renovated facilities.
